The University Park catch nobody mentions
Search "Dallas bulk trash" and you'll find the city's genuinely good monthly pickup — but much of the SMU housing belt isn't in Dallas at all. University Park is its own city with its own sanitation rules, and the Dallas brush-and-bulky week stops at the city line. Even on the Dallas side, the program doesn't serve apartments, and its monthly window almost never lines up with a lease end. Which is why May around SMU works the way it does: left-behinds get photographed at walkthroughs and billed against deposits, and the receipted flat-price clear beats the deduction every time.

Can parents book from out of state?
Yes — the whole flow is remote. Anyone can send the photo, get the flat quote, book the window and pay from anywhere, and the receipt lands with whoever paid. During May, a large share of our student-area bookings come from parents' phones.
Can't we just use the free Dallas bulk week?
Two problems. First, much of the SMU housing belt sits in University Park, a separate city with its own sanitation rules — the Dallas brush-and-bulky week doesn't apply there at all. Second, even on the Dallas side, apartments aren't served by the program, the monthly window rarely lines up with a lease end, and left-behinds get billed against deposits. Check which city your address is actually in before counting on a free week.
When should we book for May move-out?
A few days ahead locks your window during the graduation wave; same-day slots exist but go fast in mid-May. Summer lease turns (July–August) are a second, smaller wave — same advice.
What happens to the furniture?
Sound pieces route to donation with receipts available, metal to scrap recovery, electronics to certified e-waste recycling. The futon gets a second life instead of a week at the curb.
